2016 In Review

A few of my favorite Releases in 2016 include a few artists who may not make it on many end of year lists so I’d figure a small note to encourage you to give them a listen.

Quantic’s venture into roots reggae with notable musicians Hollie Cook and Christopher Ellis, along with featuring the late Ikey Owens. Suggested tracks “Shuffle Them Shoes (feat Hollie Cook)” and “Ikey’s Vibe”. Veteran Punker Alice Bag’s self-titled release infusing her high energy with powerful lyrics for fist pumping women. Starred Tracks: “No Means No” and “Little Hypocrite”. Gaby Moreno’s Ilusión is carried by her sensual voice in both Spanish and English on jazz, folk, and ballads, standout tracks Nobody to Love and Estaré. Brujeria’s Pocho Aztlan rips through a ferocious pace, yes it’s metal but under the circumstances with all that is wrong with the world (ok, Amerikkka), a slam pit feels just about right. Put you headphones on loud and give a listen to “Pocho Aztlan” and “No Aceptan Imitaciones”
